Pre-School Program

Programa de Preescolar

We have a professional staff that plans a meaningful, child-centered curriculum using the Diocese of Phoenix Preschool Curriculum Guide and the Arizona Early Learning Standards as resources. Daily activities are planned that encourage cognitive, social/emotional, spiritual, language/literacy, small muscle, and large muscle development.

The preschool day is from 7:45am – 3:00pm, Monday through Thursday with early release on Friday at 2:00pm.

Our early drop off, also known as Hornets Hive, begins at 7:00am at no additional cost to families.

Families may also choose to have their children attend our After Care program for an additional fee. The After Care program begins at the end of the school day until 6:00pm.

Program Goals:

  • To create an atmosphere of social justice, by encouraging reverence towards God and respect for the dignity of every person;
  • To build self-discipline and self-control;
  • To foster both independent and collaborative thinking;
  • To nurture creativity and appreciation of the arts;
  • To promote a positive approach towards learning; nurturing joyful, confident attitudes.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a child-centered approach to teaching the essential truths of our Catholic Faith. The Atrium is a specially prepared environment where the children come once a week to encounter the Word of God and the signs and symbols of our Faith; reflecting on the meaning and growing in their own personal relationship with Our Lord.

We Believe:

That God and the child have a unique relationship with one another, particularly before the age of six.

That the growth of this relationship should be assisted by the adult, but is directed by the Spirit of God within the child.

That children need their own place to foster the growth of that relationship.

That the child's spiritual growth is best served through tangible but indirect means.

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program

St. Agnes is also a sponsor of the USDA Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program. A fresh fruit or vegetable is provided for all children as their afternoon snack, at no additional cost to the family. This program has been successful in introducing our children to a variety of produce that they otherwise might not have the opportunity to sample, helping them learn and practice healthy eating habits.
